Sui Generis IV - Grenache

The Sui Generis wines are for my own exploration. My playground. One off, never repeated wines. This is the fourth instalment of a sui generis wine. Every vintage, unique wines to the core Mada range will evolve through a desire to individually express a certain vineyard or the varieties within.

2018 Whole Bunch Grenache
This Grenache is grown on a warmer, rocky hillside with a Northern aspect in Murrumbateman. The lower yielding Grenache in 2018 resulted in exceptional fruit concentration leaving no choice but to ferment this parcel on its own. The fruit was hand harvested and fermented using 100% whole bunches for three weeks. The wine then matured in older french oak barriques before bottling in February 2019. No fining or filtration.

My work for the label was a visual response to my experience drinking the wine. It tastes like the memory of the girl you fell in love with in your youth. She sips cherry cola on a hot summer day. She is bold, complex, rebellious. You’re drunk on infatuation. Everything is good.’
